" Reaching a new point means letting go of what’s come before. "
Kolej Matrikulasi Perak - Centre of Accounting Excellence. At least, that's what I've been told. I was enrolled in the One Year Programme of Module 1 - Biology + Physics. So, here goes my experience for your enjoyment, my reference and for future KMPk students, I hope this helps. I've broken my story down into different categories for easier reading. :)
- The dorm life
I lived in Seri Kerian T1.23 with 3 other roommates. If you are lucky, you'll have the ones that take similar subjects which then means you guys can have study sessions together. And also a good time together. In my case, I had 2 from Module 3 and one from the accounting stream. We had our ups and downs.
It took us months to break the ice. Ekin first came off as the quiet one but soon she changed the impression by screaming her lungs out to Malay love songs every night while studying/doing her homework. By Malay love songs I meant Di Pintu Mahligai by Iklim and Memburu Rindu by Hattan. Very jiwang, I tell you. Then, there's Nisa, the accounting roommate. She, too, came off as the quiet one for the first few months but later showed her real self and became very motherly and there's something about her that is very, very homely and comforting. She's one of the most genuine person I've met and I love her to death. Nisa, if you read this, I LOVE YOU! And then there's Misha, my sweet little pinchy darling. We are like-minded, if you will. We often share our thoughts, appropriate ones and inappropriate ones at the most odd hours. Once, we were talking about the purpose of marriage and the point of sex in marriage at 3 a.m. So, yeah. There's that.
Oh, we had an extra roommate! Her name is Syahirah. She's so sweet and pure and very...prude. But she made our room brighter and more lively with her antics.
Nonetheless, I love them all and I cherish every moment we had together, be it the good ones and the bad ones. 💖💖

- The study part
We had lectures, tutorials and lab practicals (for Science subjects). We were divided by lectures (M for Module 1, F for Module 2, B for Module 3 and A for accounting) and in lectures, we were divided into tutorial classes. It's very detailed, I know. My class was M2T15 and I was in the B group of this class. You'll get the concept when you get into this college. My class had a total of 23 students but 2 moved out so we were left with 21 students by the time semester 1 ended.
We sure had our laughs throughout the 2 semesters. We had really good lecturers. Like, I can't be naming all lecturers here because that'd take a lot of time and you'll get bored reading this post. But we were so blessed to have such good and understanding lecturers. Major shout out to our Biology Tutorial lecturer, Mdm Kenanga and our English lecturer, Mdm Zila for sticking wth us for 2 semesters. Pretty sure we bore them to death and they probably were so done and tired with our perangai. Hehehehehe.

We had bi-weekly assembly on Tuesdays. During this time, you can expect the typical speech from the Director of the College and some majlis to officiate some programs. It's boooooooring and lots of the students ponteng but if you do come, you'll get to see a sea of grey shawls and black and red striped ties.
This was during one of the assemblies.
- The social life
My social life wasn't the best, tbh. Throughout semester 1, I was only friends with my classmates, my roommates and like 5 other people that I knew through mutuals. That was it. I had friends asking if I know this guy or this girl and all I could say was "Sorry, I don't think I know them". I was sort of a hermit crab. But during semester 2, my circle of friends grew bigger and I started to branch out and meet new people. I made new friends and I started to feel the fun. I baru nak start dengar gossips and finally can recognise some people without getting their name messed up lmao.
However, this college held lots of events for their students to socialise. It's almost safe to say there's an event every month and honestly, its fun but money consuming. I mean, as a student you need money for everything. I'm not complaining but I wished I had better money management back then. Events = booths = money. Ya feel?
There's a Raya event, then there's an Independence Day event. And then there's a cultural weekend, talent night, Chinese New Year event and the list goes on. Not to forget, we had at least 2 carnivals in the span of 10 months. Fuuh, money flowed like river, I tell you. But, it was fun and very relaxing for us.
However, we were still treated like a school student with our outing/pulang bermalam schedules. This applies for all matriculation, as far as I'm concerned. Not just the Perak Matriculation College. For our college, we got the opportunity to go back home or to go for an outing every two weeks. Its not that bad, if I'm being honest. Transports were provided and the only thing that held us back was either money or assignments. So, there's that.

- The people surrounding me
In the next few photos, you're gonna see snippets of my life in KMPk with the people that I treasured the most. Its best to leave them unnamed (because there's so many and I might missed some and then they get offended and then..... you know how it goes). I'll just leave them here for my own reference and for them to see, if they ever come across this post, that is.

I think that's all for now. Feel free to ask any questions regarding the college/my experience! I'll be more than glad to answer them. Till then, take care.
Love, Fatin
